Congratulations!

Joan Lucey and I have been working together since October 2014. When I first met Joan she had a crippling fear of public speaking, but was determined to overcome it in order to push her business, Vibes & Scribes, forward. 


Vibes & Scribes incorporates book shops, a crafting shop and an online craft materials store. Against all odds Joan has grown this business in the face of stiff national and international competition, and it is thriving. The Cork Chamber of Commerce recognised this and awarded Joan and Vibes & Scribes the 2015 Cork Retail Company of the Year award at the Cork Chamber of Commerce Awards.


I worked with Joan on her presentation to the Chamber, and again on her speech for the shortlisted companies' promotional video. And, joyfully, when we learned that she had won, we worked on her acceptance speech. 


Joan is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when we are brave, face our fears and persevere. She tackled her fear of public speaking head on, and just six months later is standing up in front of the biggest and brightest in Cork business and accepting an award for excellence, something she never envisioned herself being able to do a year beforehand. I'm so proud of all her hard work and all she's achieved; she is truly an inspiration.
